About this collection

The Hawaii State Archives Subject Index provides subject access to records and letterbooks of Hawaii Interior Department and Foreign Office and Executive, some private collections, library books, pamphlets, broadsides, newspapers and periodicals. It is most complete for the Interior Department and the Foreign Office and Executive records. Newspapers (1836-1950) include the Advertiser, Star Bulletin, Polynesian, Hawaiian Gazette, and the Friend, but none of them are completely indexed.

These index entries refer to records in Hawaii State Archives. To see the records, visit Hawaii State Archives at 364 S. King Street, Honolulu, Hawaii 96813. If you are unable to visit us but would like copies of the records email us at or call at 808-586-0329.

Presently only the subjects A and A Investment Company to Armed Forces' Leave Act are in this collection. More subject index entries will be added until the entire index is completed.
