Original artwork is a lithograph by Swiss artist Paul Emmert (1826-1867), No. 1 in a series of 6 views of Honolulu done in 1853/1854. Produced by Britton & Rey of San Francisco. Surrounding central image are vignettes of Royal School, Custom House, the Fort, Market House, Charity School, the Stone Church (Kawaiahao), Seamen's Bethel, Armory, Court House, Kamehameha III's palace, Honolulu House, the steamer "Akamai," Native Church (Kaumakapili), and the Catholic Church.
